Mrs. Bonnie Mae Cochran, 77 of Chatsworth, passed away December 23, 2018 at her residence.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Robert C. Huggins; mother, Jewell M. Huggins; brothers, Robert C. Huggins, Jr., Ronny L. Huggins; husband, Jordan Delano “J.D.” Cochran.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry Paul of Chatsworth; aunt and uncle, Peggy and Cecil Jones of Chatsworth; extra special friend Bobby Clark of Chatsworth; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 2:00p.m. from the Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Chuck Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairmount, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Mrs. Caryl Ridley, age 68, of Chatsworth,  passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, in Hamilton Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Thurman and Thelma Smith and a nephew Chip Fetzer.

Survivors include her loving husband of 32 years;  Mont Ridley.  children and spouses: Leigh Ann and Gary Tout, Amy Day, Lauren and Zach Elliott, and Justin Ridley.  grandchildren; Carson and  Cameron Sharp, Valaree, Chase, Hannah, and Ryan Day, Cora and Brooks Elliot,. great-grandchildren:  Millie Rose Williams and Michael Paul Canterbury III,  one brother: Jeff Smith and two sisters: Kaye Fetzer and Beth Lindner.  Several Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11 am in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Helton officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Hope- Kilgore Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday 5 till 7 pm.

Mr. Kenneth Mitchell Greeson age 75 of Chatsworth, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Tranquility of Dalton.

Kenneth was a member of Faith Worship Center; and enjoyed the great outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luke Greeson; mother, Eunice McGhee; wife, Geraldine B. Greeson; sisters, Gennive Johnson, Minnie Ruth Cox, and Mozelle Young.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Haley Greeson and Kendall Greeson –all of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Kade, Kale, Kaleb, Kalen and Karli Greeson; nieces; nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Greeson will be held Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Faith Worship Center with Rev. Damon Smith and Rev. Vince Goble officiating. Interment will follow in the Faith Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 167 of Chatsworth.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARCH 17, 1932 ~ NOVEMBER 28, 2018 (AGE 86)

Jesse R. Jones age 86 of Chatsworth, passed away Wednesday, November 28th 2018 at his home.

Jesse was the founder of Jones Funeral Homes of Chatsworth and Tunnel Hill. In 1950 when he received his Georgia Funeral Directors license, he was the youngest person in the state of Georgia to have been licensed.

He was a member of Chatsworth First Baptist Church, The Murray County Gideon Camp, Chatsworth Lodge # 664 and for many years, served as their secretary. He was a member of the Berry Alumni Association Carpet Capital Chapter and the Spring Place Ruritan Club.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served as a Supply Sergeant in Korea for two years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Clemmie Jones; grandson, Zeth Baird, and a brother, James G. Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Allison Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Guy Baird; grandson, Tyler Jones; granddaughter, Sarah and Drew Callaway; great-granddaughter, Greylynn Callaway; step great-granddaughter, McKenlie Callaway; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben and Glenda Jones and Wink and Sally Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ona and Robert Hamilton and Ruth Ellis; sisters-in-law, Trilba Beavers and Beatrice Walls; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jesse Jones will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 1st 2018 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Chatsworth with Rev. George Ross and Rev. Dewey E. Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Holly Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, November 30th 2018.

He was preceded in death by his son Johnny Call Bowers, father Johnny R. Bowers, Sr., mother Virginia Bowers Seabolt, Brothers, Dwayne Calvin Bowers, Spencer McDowell, sisters, Rita Joy Smith, Zola Corrina Justice and Wendi Wallace.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Cheryl Bowers. Sons and daughters in law, R L and Wendi Bowers of Chatsworth Cpl. Dallas and Ashlynn Bowers of Jacksonville, NC, Houston Bowers of Resaca. One brother Jimmy Bowers of Dalton. Special mom and dad, Dolores and Dennis Chapman of Chatsworth. Several Nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be Sunday at 2 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Sterling officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday 4 till 9 pm.

Survivors include sons, Blake Mantooth and Eric Elrod both of Chatsworth; daughters and son-in-law, Lindsay & Ricky Burya and Kelly Elrod –all of Chatsworth; mother, Donna Mantooth of Chatsworth; brother, Don Mantooth of Chatsworth; sister and brother-in-law, Karen & Steve Headrick of Chatsworth; grandson, Cameron Mantooth; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Mantooth will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 12 noon in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Interment will be held in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tennga at a later date.

She was a charter member of Gospel Way Baptist Church in Dawnville and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Dunn; stepfather, Ray Dunn; and brothers, Truman Head and Johnny Head.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Morris Dixon; stepson, Kevin Dixon of Chatsworth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Carlene Head of Chatsworth and Marvin and Elsie Head of Old Fort, TN; sister, Frances Dunn of Cleveland, TN; brothers-in-law and their wives, Marvin and Syb Dixon, Perry and Melba Dixon, and Ricky and Shirley Dixon; step-grandchildren, Kari Dixon and Joe Dixon; special friends, Flo Rogers and Jay and Sylvia “Sib” Brown of Cleveland, TN; and several dear extended family members.

Mr. Noah P. Phillips age 20 of Crandall passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Trena and Presley Wheat of Crandall, Father Brandon Smith of Chatsworth. Half brother Austin Smith of Flordia, and half-sister Erin Phillips of Crandall, stepbrothers, Jonathan Burnette and Jason Wheat both of Chatsworth, stepsisters Julie Wheat and Brittany Wheat both of Chatsworth. Grandparents Ricky and Debra Phillips of Spring Place, Loretta Ponders of Ringgold, Terry Smith of Dalton, Clifford and Lois Wheat of Crandall. Several Aunts, Uncles, and cousins survive.

APRIL 3, 1928 ~ NOVEMBER 16, 2018 (AGE 90)

Vince died peacefully and with dignity on Friday, November 16, 2018.  He lived an active and full life for 90 years.  The last three years, he struggled with Neuropathy and Mobility but continued to fight.  He was born in Beaver Falls, PA on April 3,  1928.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Frances Lynch Piccola, wife Ruth Capo Piccola, and his son, Vincent W. Piccola Jr. and Scott Brantley.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, son Scott (Darlene) Piccola, Port Orange, Fl, daughter Linda (Jim) Romaniszyn, Jodie (Scott) Faith, Peachtree City, Ga. 14 Grandchildren, 9 Great grand children and his beloved lap buddy, Bippy
He graduated from Geneva College in 1956 at the age of 28 with a wife and three children there to see him receive his BS Degree. His Father was an Immigrant from Italy and Vince watched him struggle working in the steel mills and chose not to follow that route.
He was an avid and talented Golfer and spent many happy years on various golf courses with his family and friends.  He was a member of Dalton Golf and Country Club and served on the Board of Directors.  His prized Golf Trophy was his Senior Championship Winner.
One of his passions was the Roman Open Golf Tournament held annually at DGCC.  He served 25 plus years as tournament director and  lived long enough to see the Proceeds from that Tournament increase dramatically over the years.  Those Proceeds were given to local charities and were a Godsend for their causes.
Even though he was born a Yankee, he adopted the  Southern Lifestyle with vigor. He called Dalton his home for 40 plus years.  He was always amazed at the caring and gracious ways of we Southerners. He vowed to never shovel another flake of snow!
The Family extends Thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and compassionate caregivers at Hamilton Medical Center, Ridgewood Manor.and to all who reached out to us with calls and visits.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday. December 1st at Christ Church Presbyterian, 510 S. Tibbs Rd., Dalton GA. Visitation at 12:30 pm, Service at 2:30 pm.  This time frame will allow those of you who attend to return to your Comfort Zone and be in front of a TV for the SEC Championship Football Game. We spent many happy hours watching college football.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, Donations may be made to Roman Open Charities, PO Box 672, Dalton GA. 30722. These funds will be earmarked for NW GA Humane  Society to help in the efforts to complete the new building.  He would like that. Until he became Immobile, he volunteered at the Center.
We will miss him, treasure the memories, but accept that his death is a walk on the Path that we all call Life.

John Fletcher Harris, age 72 of Chatsworth passed away Sunday, November 4th 2018 in Erlanger Medical Center.

He was born April 5, 1946 in Live Oak, Florida. He served in the United States Army from 1965 through 1967. He was a member of Homeland Baptist Church and he was a wonderful father, grandfather “Pop”, and a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Ann Defore Harris; parents, V.C. and Ada Bell Harris; brothers, Ralph and Vernon Harris; sisters, Ailene Sellers, Mary West, and Winnie Ruth Hughes.

He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Harris Bartley (Earl) and Jo Ann Harris Flood; grandchildren, Josh and Jordan Flood, Bethany, Jocelyn and Jonathan Bartley; brothers, Ted and Roger Harris; sisters, Mable Osborne and Lynda Flood (Lamar); nieces and nephews.
