Thurman lived a full and happy life and spent his best years at home on the mountain with his family and friends. At his request, he will be cremated with no service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Prickett; and sons, Robert Kent Smith and William Kirk Smith.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Andy Hargrove; son, Kenny Smith; daughters-in-law, Cindy Smith and Kathy Smith; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Bill Prickett will be 1:00 pm Saturday, September 7th 2019 from Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in Tunnel Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Saturday, September 7th 2019 at Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church.

Mr. Charles Ray Gladden, age 78, of Chatsworth passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019, at Chatsworth Health Care.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Alma Gladden; brother, C. L. Gladden; and sisters, Pauline Dunn, Ruth Wilkie, Ruby Caylor, and Betty Sue Lemons.

Survivors include his caregivers, Kaye, Cary, and Sharon Gladden; special nephew, Jimmy Wilkie; very special family, the Petty Family; and other extended family members.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles Ray Gladden will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Crafton Dover and Rev. William Silvers officiating. Interment will follow in Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Owen Duain Goodwin, age 88, of Kennesaw, formerly of Ellijay, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Kennesaw Place.

Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Wilma Goodwin; wife, Lois Dean Chadwick Goodwin; and several siblings.

Bobby Lee Humble, 76 of Chatsworth overcome his challenge with ALS
(Lou Gehrig’s disease) Tuesday, August 27 and is now victorious in his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior.  Bobby was a Navy veteran aboard USS North Hampton during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bobby is a member of Total Praise Baptist Church.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Christine Humble. Brother, Eddie Gene and daughter Sharon Lee Humble.

Surviving is his wife Peggy of 56 years, Daughter Beth Humble and granddaughter Olivia. Son, Michael Humble (Holly) and grandchildren Tucker, Camlyn and Nate.  Sister, Mildred Sanders of Dalton, Brothers, Tom Humble of Dalton, Jackie Humble (Dee-Dee) of Braselton, GA. Brother in law, David Wells, Sisters-in-law, Patricia McCoy of Chatsworth and Edwina Grice of Newnan, GA. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, included special cousin Dannie Bell (Marla) of Chatsworth.

Services will be Friday, August 30, 2019, at 11 AM  in the chapel of with Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with  Rev, Tom Stocks officiating. Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens with full military honors from American Legion Post 167, Chatsworth, GA. Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, 2019, from 5 to 9 pm.

A special thank you is extended to all the care providers, nurses, and ALS Clinic who worked so hard to provide the best care and comfort possible during his challenge of ALS disease.

Waymond Roberts, 69 of Chatsworth passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at his home after a hard-fought battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease)

Waymond served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Roberts and Geraldine Pettit.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susie Roberts and their “boys'” Tyler “Stretch” Bailey and Dustin Millsap all of Chatsworth, daughter, and son in law: Tiffiany and Jason Williams and children Vance and Vacey of Pleasant View TN; sister and brother in law: Sheilla and Danny Godfrey,sister in law and brother in law: Pam and Seth Reed both of Chatsworth, brother in law Thomas Millsap of Ellijay, niece: Traci Cochran, nephew: Derek Godfrey, “Paw’s babies” Clay,Libby, Brennan, and Hadie all of Chatsworth,special family John and Cathy Waters of Chatsworth and his faithful companions Poncho and Millie, aunts, uncles cousins, and many friends survive.

Mr. Timothy Allen Sayre of Dalton passed away at Hamilton Medical Center on August 24, 2019.

He was born in Westland, Michigan on August 17, 1951.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Oscar Woodrow and Marjorie (Curtis) Sayre, sister: Karen Sanchez, brothers: Earnest Sayre, Mike Sayre, and Brian Sayre.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law: Shawna and David Hardin, grandson: Brooks Hardin, brother and sister in law: Lonnie and Joan Sayre.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. Special friends: Mike and Darlene Caylor, Dale Kennedy and Boo Walker, and his ABATE family.  Tim enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, cheering for the Falcons and he never met a dog he didn’t like.

He will be cremated and there will be a private celebration of life on September 8th.

Mrs. Marian T. Capehart of Rocky Face passed away at Parkridge Hospital on August 20, 2019.

Marian was an example of what a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother should be and aspired to.  Her family was at the center of everything she did and she leaves behind a family that will always miss and love her,  but is both blessed and thankful to have her grace their lives.  The heavens just gained another angel. She was a member of the Naomi Class at Grove Level Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Naomi Holloway and Paul Trammel Thompson and preceded in death by her husband, William B. (Billy) Hill and Rufus (June) Capehart, sister: Doris (Dot) and Ceb Coley, Charles Talley, and brother: Lamar (Marty) Thompson, and niece : Cindy Thompson Morgan.

She is survived by her son: William L. (Larry) Hill and Dana of Chatsworth, daughters:  Anna  Krista Kirk of Dalton, Angela Daniel & Mark of Rossville, grandchildren: Wm. Mrs. Eve Irene “Granny” Lofty passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at her residence

She was a life long resident of Cohutta, GA.  She was born in Dalton, Ga. on September 28, 1952, the daughter of J.C. and Inez Rich..  She was known as Granny to several people. She always helped others, there was no one that walked in her door that she didn’t offer a bite to eat.

She is preceded in death by her parents: J.C. and Inez Rich, stepmother: Eula Rich, son: Billy Maples, husband: Charles Lofty and several brothers and sisters..
