Betty Ruth Mathis, 79, of Crandall, GA, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020, after a valiant battle with lung cancer at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born November 13, 1940, in Palmer, TN to the late Elvin Franklin and Beulah Bell Robertson Smith; and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Sissom; daughter, Terisa Ruth Sissom; brothers, Elmer, Herbert, Bob, Alfred, Hal, Fred and Troy Smith; sisters, Martha Elizabeth Caldwell, Mary Catherine Burnette, Aline Hargis, Eula Mae Bess and Edna Brown.
Betty had a servant heart and was loved by so many. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma Betty. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Betty was retired from Shaw Industries.
She is survived by her loving husband Don Mathis; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick & Beverly Sissom of Varnell, Jerry & Karen Sissom of Cohutta, Terry & Rhonda Sissom, Trevor & Michelle Sissom of Crandall, Tracy & Melissa Mathis of Benton, TN, Jim & Lynn Mathis of Cohutta; step son Wade & Darla Mathis of Rocky Face; step daughters, Elicia Whaley, Vanessa Huggins, and Tammy Brock; grandchildren, Mikie Sissom, Tony Sissom, Lee Sissom, Eric Mathis, Matthew Sissom, Tyler Sissom, Rebecca Bullock, Hannah Hendricks, Erica Crawford, Robin Ogle, Ali Harp, Ashley Walker, Summer Mathis, Karlie Mathis, Katie Mathis, Brock Mathis, Jessica Sissom, Katelyn Griggs, Katelin Bevans, with several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Samuel Smith of Gruetli-Laager, TN and Lois Marie Lance of Dalton, GA; special nieces, Annette Reece and Linda Lock, and several loved nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to Pruitt Health Hospice for the excellent care they gave to her during this difficult time. They went above and beyond expectations.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Betty Ruth Mathis will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth with Pastor Ronald Guffey and Pastor Billy Webb officiating. She will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth on Friday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

Obituaries January 18, 2020DyAnn Baynes age 68, passed away January 13, 2020, Dyann was proceeded in death by her wonderful in-laws: Grady and Mattie Baynes, niece: Jennifer Stone sister: Mary Knight, nephew: Shawn Knight.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Gerald Baynes, son and daughter-in-law: Jason and Jodi Baynes, daughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Eric Shuler two beautiful granddaughters: Erica Shuler and Rebekah Mozingo. DyAnn loved her granddaughters and was so proud of them both. Mother: Mary Pauline Whitmore, brothers and sisters-in-law: Gene and Darlene Stone of Cohutta, James and Kathy Stone of Highland MI brother: Ron Stone of Jacksonville FL. Quite a few nieces, nephews,great-nieces, and great-nephews. She loved being called Aunt Dyann.
She was a member of Northside Church Of Christ. She loved her church family and they loved her. The family would like to thank each of them for all of their support, calls, text, cards and many prayers on her behalf.
She graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1969 she loved all her classmates and enjoyed getting together with them. After graduation, she went to work at Eastbrook Middle School where she worked for 31 years. She touched many lives during her time there. Thank you to her very special niece Delayne Sproles, she was such a wonderful help to us all.

Survivors include son, Bill Stone of Calhoun; daughters and son-in-law, Teresa & Rick Doritty of Eugene, Oregon and Melinda Walker of Dalton; brother, Roy Gossett of Chatsworth; sisters, Bonnie Crisp and Dimple Weaver both of Chatsworth; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene & Jo Stone of Cohutta and Buster Stone of Chatsworth; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dianne & Charles Burger, Jeanette Tankersley, Becky Stone and Irene Lay – all of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Taylor Stone & Brendon Moss of Calhoun, and Savannah Walker of Dalton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her special dog Tiny.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Dawnville.
Ms. Quarles was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Essie Mae Lyles Quarles; sisters, Martha Sue Quarles, Sarah Ruth Quarles and Mary Lou Welch.
Survivors include husband Wayne Cartwright; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Beth Moss of Ringgold and Michael Keith of Crandall; brothers and sister-in-law, Hoyt Quarles, and Clinton, Jr. and Penny Quarles –all of Crandall; grandchildren, Hayden, Haley, Holden and Hudson Moss –all of Ringgold; she is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ms. Quarles will be held Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Corbin and Rev. Arthur Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in the Dewberry Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, Ragan Elrod; special family members and caregivers, Darryl Bearden and family and Janette Gibson; cousins, Sylvia Etheridge, Hilda Jones, and Elaine Huggins; special family friend, Herbert Parrott; and many other extended family members, friends and neighbors.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Maurine Davis will be 4:00 pm Thursday, January 16th 2020 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Chatsworth with Rev. Graham Arp and Rev. Daniel Valesquez officiating.
