Mrs. Betty Joan (Gibson) Hampton, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 13, 2020, surrounded by her devoted family.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. The legacy of her kind spirit, love of sports and passion for life will live on through them. She always had a smile on her face and a joke ready to tell. She has been a shining example of a follower of Christ, living her life in service to others. She was committed to family, making sure all knew of her support to be able to reach their potential. She was a tireless and selfless volunteer, supporting the Murray County Library and Murray County Historical Society. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She loved camping, fishing and Murray County football. She was an encouragement to family and friends and was an example of how to overcome the struggles of life.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Commer Hampton; parents, William Henry and Bertha (Childs) Gibson; sister and brother-in-law, Maureen (Gibson) and Richard Pellom; brothers, Mack Gibson, and Charles Gibson; son-in-law, Ben Hahn; nieces, Renee (Gibson) Phillips and Melissa Pellom; special friend, Jack Hampton.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Deborah (Hampton) Hahn and Darlene (Hampton) and Jeff Storey; grandchildren and spouses, Bucky and Jaime Banks, Brittany (Hahn) and Stephen; Brandy and Dewayne Lawson, Stephanie (Hahn) and Zane, and Emily and D.J. Shirley; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia Banks, Addison Banks, Konstantin, and Jackson; sister-in-law, Brenda Gibson; and uncountable special nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hampton will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral with Rev. Mark Bowen officiating and special remarks by Mona King. Interment will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00p.m. at the funeral home.

JoAnn Caylor, age 76, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Ridgewood Manor in Dalton.

JoAnn attended Swamp Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving grandmother, enjoyed arts and crafts, and liked to go on adventures in the North Carolina mountains.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Sarah Mae Souther; husband, Donald “Don” Caylor; and sister, Geraldine “Jeri” Ridley.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Stacey Caylor of Chatsworth; daughter, Karen Rivera of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Temple Cloer of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Amelia Davis, Kris and Melissa Crump, and Andy Caylor; great-grandchild, MaKayla Davis; and special friends, Brenda Gibson, Cynthia Cervinka, and Judy Witherow.

Funeral services for Mrs. Caylor will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with special remarks by Greg Beavers. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made toward the funeral expenses.

Joy R. Frerichs: Obituary

Miss Joy R. Frerichs age 73 of Chatsworth passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elton Frerichs Sr., brother  Dr. Elton Frerichs, Jr. and a nephew Matt Frerichs.

Survivors include her life partner, William Simons of Chatsworth. Mother Lenis Frerichs of Maryville, TN. Sister and brother in law, Bonnie and Lynn Sheeley of Knoxville. Niece Abby Foster of Vonroe, TN, Nephews, Lynn Sheeley IV, of Knoxville, TN and Major Frerichs of Sweetwater, TN. Great nieces and nephews, Major Frerichs II, Lynn Meyers Sheeley V, Henry Frerichs, Merideth Foster, Taylor Foster, and Sophia Sheeley.

Miss Frerichs was a voracious reader and taught Reading and English for 40 years for Whitfield County Schools. She was a Fullbright Scholar three times, Ohio, Arkansas, and Japan. Also a member of the National Education Association,  Dalton Pilot Club, Friends of the Dalton Regional Library, Dalton Order of the Eastern Star, Mary Blount Daughters of American Revolution, Daughters of Confedrecery, Colonial Dames and Daughters of War of 1812. She was a 60-year member and follower of Christ at Vonroe First United Methodist Church.

At her request, she will be cremated and services will be held at a later time.

Andrew “Andy” James Hardin: Obituary

Little Andrew “Andy” James Hardin, age 3, of Dalton, beloved son of Stephen and Alice Hardin, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He attended Central Community Church; Andy loved playing with his toys, being tickled, and giving kisses.

Andy was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Edward Hardin; paternal great-grandparents, Floyd and Mae Woods and Jack and Annie Mae Hardin; maternal great-grandparents, Bro. Don and Juanita Oliver and Freddie and Georgia Baggett.

Survivors include his parents along with his sister, Brooklynn Hardin of Dalton; paternal grandmother, Carol Hardin of Dalton; maternal grandparents, Chuck and Gloria Oliver of Dalton; extended family also survives.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Andy will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Bishop Edwin Puckett and Children’s Minister Melissa Minter officiating. Interment will follow in the United Memorial Gardens in Dalton.

The family will receive friends Monday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home.

Mrs. Edith Parson, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 83 on January 26, 2020.

Edith was born on June 6, 1936 to Clint and Dorothy Patterson. On September 5, 1953, she married Edd Parson, Jr. They raised a daughter and three sons.

Edith loved the Lord and her family and enjoyed music and singing and was an avid gardener. She cherished time sitting on the porch in the evenings with her family and friends, talking over the day and about their lives. Edith was a faithful member of Fairy Valley Baptist Church in Crandall, GA.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edd Parson, Jr.; father, Clint Patterson; mother, Dorothy Patterson; and sister, Bingle Mantooth.

Dallas W. Buckner, age 81 of Tunnel Hill, passed away Monday, January 27th 2020 at Hamilton Medical Center.

Mr. Buckner was a faithful member and a deacon of Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church. He loved his family and he loved his flower garden. He worked in the textile industry for over fifty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Grace Buckner.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Buckner; brother, Wayne Buckner; sisters, Betty Jenkins, Dorothy Jenkins, Marie Smith, and Donna Neal; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dallas Buckner will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 30th 2020 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Tunnel Hill with Rev.Tyson Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Griffin Memorial Cemetery.

She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Morgan of Chatsworth; brothers and sister-in-law, Jerry Cox and Kenny and Dottie Cox – all of LaFollette, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Carl Douglas of Ringgold and Patsy and Roy Marlowe of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Erica Williams of Dalton and Chad Duckett of Chatsworth; great-grandchildren, Logan Williams and Lena Ann Lamons; former husbands, Jesse Morgan, Jr. of Chatsworth and Ricky Duckett of Cisco; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeffers will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Cox and Rev. Randy McClure officiating. Mrs. Jeffers will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm on Sunday at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Huntsville, TN.

Mrs. Helen Duncan Land, age 85, of Dalton, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband:  Lamar Land, children;  Linda and Bradley Land and parents:  Oliver and Vedie Duncan,  brother and sister in law:  Sam and Helen Duncan.

Survivors include her children and spouses: Jeff and Diane Land, Jennifer and Ray Southerland all of Dalton, grandchildren:  Sean Cox, Cory Southerland, Lorri Land and Jeffery Land. Several great-grandchildren nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be Friday, January 24, 2020, at 4 pm from Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Grant officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 5 till 9 pm.
