Mrs. Betty Joan (Gibson) Hampton, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 13, 2020, surrounded by her devoted family.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. The legacy of her kind spirit, love of sports and passion for life will live on through them. She always had a smile on her face and a joke ready to tell. She has been a shining example of a follower of Christ, living her life in service to others. She was committed to family, making sure all knew of her support to be able to reach their potential. She was a tireless and selfless volunteer, supporting the Murray County Library and Murray County Historical Society. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She loved camping, fishing and Murray County football. She was an encouragement to family and friends and was an example of how to overcome the struggles of life.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Commer Hampton; parents, William Henry and Bertha (Childs) Gibson; sister and brother-in-law, Maureen (Gibson) and Richard Pellom; brothers, Mack Gibson, and Charles Gibson; son-in-law, Ben Hahn; nieces, Renee (Gibson) Phillips and Melissa Pellom; special friend, Jack Hampton.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Deborah (Hampton) Hahn and Darlene (Hampton) and Jeff Storey; grandchildren and spouses, Bucky and Jaime Banks, Brittany (Hahn) and Stephen; Brandy and Dewayne Lawson, Stephanie (Hahn) and Zane, and Emily and D.J. Shirley; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia Banks, Addison Banks, Konstantin, and Jackson; sister-in-law, Brenda Gibson; and uncountable special nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hampton will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral with Rev. Mark Bowen officiating and special remarks by Mona King. Interment will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Murray County Library at 100 North 3rd Avenue Chatsworth, GA 30705, the Murray County Historical Society at 715 Chattanooga Ave, Dalton, GA 30720 or the Dewberry Baptist Church.
