Mr. Headrick was preceded in death by his father, Clyde William Headrick; mother, Willie Belle Slaughter Headrick; grandparents, Waymon and Cynthia Headrick; brothers, Clyde “Tootie” Headrick, Jr. and Randy Headrick.

Survivors include sister, Rhonda Headrick Hawkins, Chatsworth; brothers, Gary Headrick of Dalton, Roger Headrick, Oregon, Steve and David Curl both of Chatsworth; nephews, Nathan & Davis Hawkins; great-great nephew, Jaden Curl and great-great niece, Jayden Curl; companion Della Goforth.

Mr. Headrick’s wishes were to be cremated.

Mr. John Tyler Barker, age 77, of Crandall passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga surrounded by his loving family.

He opened B & B Tractor in 1980; there he made a living for his family, and was able to serve the customers whom he loved.

Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Vernon Barker; mother, Viola Beatrice Tate; sister, Peggy Arnold; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luther (Luke) & Esta Caylor Green.

Survivors include wife, Shirley Green Barker of Crandall; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles & Lynn Barker of Dalton, Willard Goforth of Nashville, TN; daughters and son-in-law, Wanda & Dennie Ferguson and Debbie Compton –all of Lebanon, VA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise & JR Rutherford, Gay & Johnny Vestal, and Jenny Leonard –all of Bristol, VA; grandchildren John Henry Barker of Dalton, Devin Barker of Dalton, Tyler Barker of Crandall, Kenny Dillard of Dalton and other grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Eli & Emma Barker, Kayden Dillard and other great-grandchildren; special niece, Christie Green Brewer.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Barker will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Burnette officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairy Valley Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 167 of Chatsworth.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home.

Jerry Wayne Patterson, age 65, of Crandall passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Erlanger Hospital.

Jerry was a poultry farmer and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lillie Mae Patterson; sister, Louise Jackson; and brothers-in-law, Jim Wilson, Max Jackson, Joe Don Butler, and Eddie Norwood.

Survivors include his son, Sheldon Patterson of Crandall; brother, Kenneth Patterson of Crandall; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Alva Butler of Chatsworth, Rosa and Marvin Crumbley of Chatsworth, Lola Mae and Harold Stewart of Chatsworth, and Marie Norwood of Dalton.

Juanita Peden Stafford, age 90 of Crandall, passed away Wednesday, February 27th 2019 in Hamilton Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. “Dee” Stafford; parents, Fred and Nettie Maude Peden; brothers, Kenneth and Clinton Peden; sister, Rejonna Peden; and son-in-law, Phil Klippert.

She is survived by her children, Gerald Stafford, Sharon Klippert, and Rena and Alan Pacheco; sister Jean Caylor Jones; grandchildren, Jason (Nichole) Pacheco, Brook Pacheco (Nathan) Smith, David (Stacey) Pacheco, and Randy Klippert; 15 great-granchildren; nieces and nephews.

Roger A. Edwards

Mr. Roger A. Edwards age 69 of Chatsworth passed away Tuesday Feb. 26, 2019 at the Murray Medical Center.

Roger was born on July 14, 1949, in Dalton, Georgia and is preceded in death by his parents, William Alton Edwards and Dorothy Louise Gable Edwards. Upon graduating from Valley Point High School, Roger served 8 years in the United States Air Force and 15 years in the United States Navy. He spent the next 20 years with the Department of Defense in various locations throughout the world.
Roger is survived by his brother, David Edwards and his wife Kay, his sisters Vicki Bostwick and her husband Bill, Kimberly Baldridge and her husband Kenneth, Kelly Fariss and her husband Dale, and his cousin, Terry Edwards and his wife Jackie. Seven nieces and nephews and eleven great-nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial service with military honors, performed by the United States Navy, will be held Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 at 1 PM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Mr. Reuben Ray Miller, age 61, of Chatsworth, Georgia passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at AdventHealth Murray.

Reuben was born on June 3, 1957 in Quincy, Illinois to the late Rufus Reuben Miller and Mary L. Briggs Miller.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford, Larry, Charley, and Danny Miller, and sisters, Betty Hartsock, Arlene Davis, Bonnie Broughton, and Mary Louise.

Survivors include his wife, Tamia Lee White Miller; daughter, Rebecca Lyn Miller of Chatsworth; granddaughters, Skyla Jade Miller of Chatsworth and Makayla Allen of Chatsworth; brother, Samuel Miller of Brandon, Florida; sisters, Julie Stephens of Sun City, Arizona, Darlene Von Thun of Palmyra, Missouri, and Eva Fae Shores of Shelbina, Missouri; and many dear extended family members.

Funeral services for Mr. Miller will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

He is preceded in death by his grandmothers: Julia Shelton, Sheila Hammontree and grandfather Terry Gossett.

Survivors include his mother Jennifer Quinton and father: Mikey Hall,  sisters and brothers in law: Ashley and Andrew Boatwright, Angel and Christopher Hall, Whittney Ellis, Kristen Quinton and Shelby Byrd, brothers; Daniel McBrayer, Jonathan Duckworth, Ethan Ellis and Travis Byrd.  Several Aunts, Uncles and cousins also survive.

Edd Parson, Jr.

December 17, 1930 – February 03, 2019

Mr. Edd Parson, Jr., loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 88 on February 3, 2019. Edd was born in his grandparents’ home in Chatsworth, GA on December 17, 1930 to Edd and Pearl (Chambers) Parson. On September 5, 1953, he married Edith Patterson. They raised a daughter and three sons.

Edd was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. While in service, he was stationed in Germany. He cherished time sitting on the porch in the evenings with his family and friends talking over the day and about their lives. He also enjoyed traveling, restoring antique tractors, and airplanes. He enjoyed gospel singings and fellowship time with his friends and loved ones.

Edd was preceded in death by his father, Edd Parson, Sr., and his mother, Pearl (Chambers) Parson; sister, Jonnie Nicholson; nephew, Neil Setter, Jr.; and niece, Dawn Tanksley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Edith Parson; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Roger DeVaughn; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddy and Patty Parson, Ricky and Debby Parson, and Ben and Sharon Parson, all of Crandall; sister, Jeraldine Setter; grandchildren, Kelly and Johnny Ingram, Blake and Ashley Parson, Maria and Carl Taylor, Jamie Parson, Virginia and Alan Atkins, Hannah Parson, and Benjamin Parson; great-grandchildren, Lane Holsomback, Ella Keith, Asa Taylor, Alexis Parson, Landon Atkins, and Ava Atkins; nieces, Sonjua (Jack) Pritchett (son, Logan), Beverly Tanksley, (son, Derek) and Jeanne Carole (Kent) Suddeth (children, Emily and Evan); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas Patterson, Charles and Ruby Patterson, Grady and Rhonda Patterson, Wanda and Bill Webb, Bonnie and Ray Cavett, and Arlene Stevenson; and special friends, Linda Parson and Leon Caylor.

Marlar Lafayette (M. L.) Carpenter

May 30, 1921 – January 22, 2019

Marlar Lafayette (M. L.) Carpenter of Chatsworth, Georgia passed away January 22, 2019 in the Navicent Health Medical Center of Baldwin County, Milledgeville, Georgia.  He was 97 years old.

He was born May 30, 1921 in Rabun County, Georgia to the late James and Ida Carpenter.  The youngest of ten children, he was preceded in death by six brothers – Thomas, Jessie Lee, John, Fred, Carl and Lawrence – and three sisters – Evelyn Cannon, Esther Dills and Marjorie Robinson.

Surviving are his loving wife of 75 years, Geneva, and sons and daughters-in-law Kent Carpenter (Dorothy) of Milledgeville and Marc Carpenter (Penny) of Crandall.  Also surviving are a grandson, Kell Carpenter (Melena) and great-granddaughter Kelsey, all of Milledgeville.

M. L. was raised in Rabun County. He graduated from Rabun Gap – Nacoochee School: High School in 1940, then Junior College in 1942.  With World War II under way, he then joined the U. S. Navy.  After completing Midshipmen’s School, he served honorably in the South Pacific through the end of the war.  Afterwards, he remained in the Naval Reserve, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant in 1966.

He completed his formal education in 1949 when he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Southern College of Pharmacy in Atlanta.  He served his community as the owner and pharmacist of Carpenter’s Pharmacy in Chatsworth from 1951 through 1963.  At a time when small-town pharmacies were few, often this meant long hours and late nights.

His dedication and love were given freely to his family and to his church, the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth.  His entire life demonstrated his faith in, and love for, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family will receive visitors at Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth on Saturday, January 26, 2019 beginning at 1 p.m.  The funeral will follow at 3 p.m., then interment in Chatsworth Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Chatsworth.
