Geraldine “Gerri” Quarles Pettit

February 13, 1934 – January 29, 2019

Mrs. Geraldine “Gerri” Quarles Pettit, age 84, of Chatsworth passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Gerri was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church. Gerri was the love of Walt’s life. She had a great love and devotion for her entire family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Felton Quarles; mother, Rhoda Anna Holcomb Quarles; brothers, John Harrison Quarles, Sr. and Emmett Quarles; and sisters, Greathel Sitton, Rachel Scoggins, Desma Templeton, and Catherine Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Walter “Walt” Pettit, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Waymond & Susie Roberts of Chatsworth; daughter and son-in-law, Shellia & Danny Godfrey of Chatsworth; sister, Frances Faith; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other special family, Kathy & Paul Thomasson, Karen & Mike Wolff, and Walter, Jr. and Liane Pettit.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pettit will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Pettit’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 pm until the funeral hour.

The family will accept flowers or contributions made to Holly Creek Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Pettit.
