Three Chatsworth residents arrested on narcotics-related charges

CHATSWORTH, Ga – Murray County deputies served multiple search warrants that resulted in three individuals arrested for alleged drug possession on June 17. Two of the three were also charged with intent to distribute.
James Randall Whitmire of Murray County, Chatsworth, Ga, Raymond R Sanborn of Murray County, Chatsworth, Ga, and LeDetra Shavon Cross of Murray County, Chatsworth, Ga were arrested.
Following a month-long investigation, law enforcement uncovered evidence that Whitmire and Sanborn were allegedly illegally obtaining Tapentadol, a schedule 2 narcotic through the United States Postal Service. They later repackaged and sent the drug to customers also through the postal service.
Investigators believe Whitmire and Sanborn received more than 20,000 schedule 2 narcotic tablets in the mail and distributed them. .
Assisting, in the case, was the Chatsworth Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Conasauga Safe Streets Task Force, and the US Postal Service.
James Randall Whitmire was charged with  5 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance  and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
Raymond R. Sanborn was charged with 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
LeDetra Shavon Cross was charged with 1 county of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Methamphetamine.
This investigation is still active and ongoing.

Dalton man arrested on drug charges, ecstasy pills, and revoked license

CHATSWORTH, Ga – A Dalton man was arrested by Murray County law enforcement and during a search of his car, they allegedly found 21 ecstasy pills along other paraphernalia.

A Murray County deputy located a suspicious vehicle near Hwy 225 and Spring Place while on patrol on June 7, 2021. The law enforcement officer identified the driver of the car as Daniel Labron Phillips of Dalton, Ga, and discovered Phillips was driving using a revoked license. While conducting a vehicle inventory post-arrest, the officer allegedly uncovered 21 ecstasy pills, an unknown substance inside a Dr. Pepper bottle, a stolen pistol, digital scales, and $7,370.00.

Daniel Labron Phillips of Dalton, Ga was charged with the following: Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Driving while License was Suspended or Revoked.

All those arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Officers arrest Crandall man for possession of methamphetamine

MURRAY COUNTY, Ga – Murray County law enforcement apprehended Lance Tyler Stephenson on several drug charges after a lengthy drug investigation.
The Murray County Proactive Drug Unit investigated Stephenson over several months. Previously, Stephenson allegedly fled and evaded capture by deputies on his motorcycle.
Once arrested on July 22, law enforcement found 5.3 ounces of methamphetamine, smoking pipe, $1,058, and a stun gun in Stephenson’s possession. He was charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, trafficking of methamphetamine, and possession of drug-related objects. The numerous felony charges each carry hefty fines and jail sentences if convicted.
Murray County Sheriff’s Office accepts drug activity tips on its website, which goes directly to the narcotics unit. Individuals can remain anonymous.
