Avery Lee Dotson age 7 of Chatsworth passed away Friday, March 1, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wesley Dotson.
Survivors include his mother Mandy Dotson, father Andy Dotson two brothers Kyle and Bryce Dotson.
Grandparents Wanda and Mick Haught of Chatsworth, Darrell and Donna Ashenhart of New Martinsville, WV., Linda Dotson of Chatsworth. Aunts Abby Dunn of Chatsworth, Angie Cockburn of Dalton, Anna Dotson of Chatsworth, Rachelle Ashenhart of Virginia Beach VA, and Brittany Nunez of Washington, DC. Uncles Greg and Mitch Haught of Chatsworth. Several Cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be Thursday 4 pm at the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday after 5 pm.

Mr. Thomas “Eddie” Dunlap, age 76, of Chatsworth, GA died Friday, June 7, 2019 in Holly, Michigan.
He was born in Baltimore, MD on Nov. 2, 1942 to Thomas and Martha (Cantrell) Dunlap.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cherylene Dunlap
Survivors include his daughters, Kristy (Henry Rivet) Dunlap-Farrell, Donna (Patrick) Dunlap-Klenner, Shanelle Stover, and Kendra (Ken) Rankin, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wed. June 12, 2019 at Holly Creek Cemetery, Chatsworth, GA with Rev. Jeremy Southers officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Association.

Arrest of Former Murray County Sheriff’s Office Deputy
News May 18, 2019
Chatsworth, GA (May 17, 2019) – On Friday, May 17, 2019, the GBI arrested former Murray County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Levi Amos, 22, for Violation of Oath by Public Officer, Electronically Furnishing Obscene Material to Minors, and Computer Invasion of Privacy. Amos was accessing the Georgia Crime Information Center database in order to obtain personal information on females without authorization.
On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, the GBI was requested by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an investigation concerning Deputy Amos sending inappropriate messages and pictures of himself to juvenile females. After this information was received by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, Amos was suspended and later resigned in lieu of termination.
This is an ongoing investigation. If anyone has any information regarding this case, please contact the GBI at 706-624-1424.

Mr. Billy Ray of Chatsworth passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at the Hamilton Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ray, Parents Will and Lillie Mae Ray, brothers J.D., Charles and Earl Ray. Sister Elizabeth Penney.
Survivors include his sons and daughter in law, Chris and Rhonda Ray of Dalton, Greg Ray of Chatsworth. Grandchildren Leah, Lana, and Bailea. Great grandchildren, Nik, Delilah, Daisy, and Scarlett. A Brother Doug Ray of Tunnel Hill and a sister Stella Mae Ray of Dalton. Several Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be Saturday 2 pm at the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Smith and Rev.Terry Ray officiating. Interment will be in Casey Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday 5 till 9 pm

Mrs. Edna Mae Hickey Parker, age 88 of Chatsworth, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family, just minutes before her 89th birthday at Hamilton Medical Center
Mrs. Parker was a member of the Cool Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and family trips.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Parker; parents, Bill & Lydia Hickey; grandson, Junior Parker; son-in-law, Randy Manis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph & Ruby Hickey, and S.L. & Ina Hickey; sister Ezma Hickey Tankersley.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin & Donna Parker and Wayne & Judy Parker – all of Chatsworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Lela & Jimmy McCaslin of Chatsworth, Phyllis & Ralph Mooney of Chatsworth, and Donna & Smitty Mooney of Ellijay; brother-in-law, Bradley Tankersley of Chatsworth; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Beason and Rev. John Bagley officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. until 9:00 pm.

Mr. Henry “Jeff” Hewitt, age 79, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Sampson Hewitt and his parents: Grady and Bertha Eaker Hewitt.
Survivors include sons and daughters in law: Roger and Sandra Hewitt of Dalton, Jeffery and Julie Hewitt of Cohutta and Andy Hewitt of Cohutta, grandchildren: Derek and Cassie Hewitt, Whitney and Tyler Holloway, Jocelynn Hewitt, Emilee Hewitt, Ivy Hewitt, Taelor Hewitt and Halle Hewitt, great-grandchildren: Aaden Holloway, Ella Holloway, and Tristen Hewitt, brothers: Billy Hewitt, Jerry Hewitt and Ted Hewitt all of Rocky Face. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 2 PM at New Covenant Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Sutton officiating.

Leonard liked to hunt and go trout fishing. A member of Smyrna Baptist Church and Dalton Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Laura Thomas, brother Bobby Thomas and two sisters Inez King and Ora Lee Gravley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Jane (Timms), Thomas. Children and spouses, Beth and Billy Scoggins, Chris Thomas and Renee Callaway all of Chatsworth. Granddaughter and spouse, Sarah and Gary Forrester of Chattanooga.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 2 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in The Smyrna Church Cemetery with Chatsworth American Legion Post 167 doing Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 10 am till 2 pm. She was preceded in death by her parents: Nelson and Ruby Davis, sisters: Kathleen Ridley, Wanda Campbell, brothers: Fred Davis, and Jimmy Davis and a grandson: Cole Martin.
Survivors include her sons and daughters in law, Tony and Ina Martin, Terry and Pam Martin. grandchildren and spouse: Daniel and Candace Martin and Camilla Webb, great-grandchildren: Nicole Martin, Craighton Roper, Karah Powell, Kolby Martin, and Brianna Powell. sisters: Virginia Davis, Cheryl Henderson and brothers: Byron Davis and Rickey Davis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Barbara Chambers, age 60 of Tunnel Hill, passed away Saturday, March 2nd 2019 in Erlanger Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, M.C. and Nell Moorehead; and uncle, John Grindle; niece, Tosha Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Chambers; sons, Aaron, Shawn, Richard Jr, and Matthew Chambers; brother, Jerry (Lori) Moorehead; sisters, Janice (Dean) Andres and Linda (Steve) Farrow; grandchildren, Carmen, Michael and Emily Chambers; and special niece, Bryonna Wills; special friend, Mildred Crabtree.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Barbara Chambers will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 5th 2019 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Tunnel Hill with Rev. Larry Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Lees Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, March 4th 2019.

NOVEMBER 16, 1942 ~ FEBRUARY 17, 2019
Jewel Beverly Hedges, 76, of Chatsworth, passed away on February 17, 2019, at Murray Medical Center (AdventHealth) under hospice care given by Homespun Hospice in Murray County, Georgia. Jewel was surrounded by her family after a hard fought battle with multiple health issues.
Jewel will be cremated and no services will be held per her request. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.
Jewel was born in Ellijay, Georgia to Jimmy Johnson and Frances Roberson on November 16, 1942. She graduated from Jackson High School in Miami, Florida where she was a competitive shooter on the rifle team. Jewel graduated from Dalton State College. Jewel was a Master Gardner. She enjoyed painting, sketching and her pets.
She married James Hedges on December 16, 1964, in Kansas City, Kansas. While living in Las Vegas, Nevada Jewel was working as a telephone operator when she spoke with Jimmy Durante. Jewel worked at Murray County Hospital for 26 years as an Administrative Assistant to the Hospital Administrator. Jewel LOVED her Murray County Hospital family. One of the administrators she enjoyed working with was Jim Hazel. Jewel retired from the Murray County Extension 4H Office (University of Georgia) after working ten years with Louis Dykes, the County Extension Agent.
Jewel is preceded in death by her Grandparents Walter and Phobee Blackwell Pierce who raised her during her toddler and her preschool years. Frances Roberson (2011) mother, Jimmy Johnson (2002) father and Elizabeth “Ashley” Hedges (2015) Jewel’s special granddaughter. Her special pets waiting for her at Rainbow Bridge are Conway (Lhasa Apso), Murphy (Lhasa Apso), Katie (Dalmatian), Hootch (Mixed Terrier), Lillie (Cat) and Sissy (Rottweiler). Jewel also had Goosey. Goosey was a Canadian Goose that Jewel rescued by stopping traffic in front of Hardee’s in Chatsworth to pick up the duckling out of the road.
Jewel is survived by her husband James (Jim) Hedges, Curtis Hedges of Signal Mountain, TN, Dr. Beverly Hedges, Becky Hedges, Connie Hedges, Jimmy Lee Hedges (Mesa, Arizona) and Richard Hedges (Topeka, KS). Granddaughters Cassie Hedges (Mesa, Arizona) and Rene Hicks and her grandson Curtis Hedges, Jr. both of (Cleveland, TN). Special cousins David Pierce and Betty Hamrick.
Memorials may be given to Murray County Animal Shelter in Chatsworth, Georgia. The family of Jewel wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Murray Medical Center now known as AdventHealth, their physicians Dr. Counsell, Dr. Wilson and Dr. Maddox. The AdventHealth Nursing Staff and Vanessa. The family would also like to thank First Baptist Church of Chatsworth (for building the ramp), Homespun Hospice.
