Margaret Ann Marney, age 75, of Dalton, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a long and hard fought battle with multiple health issues. She was 75.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Hazel Marney, Sister, Marlene Lumpkin, and her beautiful Grandson, Dustin James Jennings.
Born in June of 1943 in Dalton GA, she grew up on the South end of Whitfield County enjoying riding her Tennessee Walking Horses and driving fast cars. She was a Graduate of Valley Point High School Class of 1961. She always had a story to tell, often creating tears of laughter from the tales of her mischievous adventures.
Margaret was first and foremost a dedicated mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She embraced every possible moment spent with her family and took great pride in their successes and accomplishments. She will be survived by and missed greatly by those she has left behind, daughter Angie Jennings and Kimberly Biddy of Ringgold, daughter Alethea Temple and Jody Temple of Rome, son Bill Jennings of Chatsworth, Grandchildren Josh Pickens, Hunter Jennings, MacKenzie Temple, and Cooper Jennings and her Great Grandson Gavin Pickens. She also leaves behind her cherished fiance’ Marlin Cochran and her “Other daughter” Dana Burchfield.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 5-9pm at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home 2362 Highway 76 Chatsworth GA. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Lester A. Roper, age 56, of Eton, passed away Monday, January 28, 2018 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Kathern Roper and a special friend Tony Hawkins.
Survivors include his brothers and sisters in law: Allen and Laura Roper, Jerry and Gladys Roper all of Dawnville, sisters and brother in law: Linda and Allan Cantrell of Dawnville, Kay Dodson of Eton, special friend: Wanda Roberts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 31, at 2 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Cochran and Rev. Gary Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the Dawnville United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 5 till 9 pm. Pallbearers will be Allen Fugate, Ivan Donahue, Brandon Roper, James Longwell and Michael Plott.

Charles “Charlie” D. Sparks, age 76, of Chatsworth passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at his residence.
He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Ball Ground, GA and the president and founder of S&W Communications, Inc.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Sparks; son, Bobby Sparks; brother, Jerry Sparks; and sister, Linda Jane Sparks.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda LaVerne Petty Sparks of Chatsworth; sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan & Laura Sparks of Decatur and Allen & Lisa Sparks of Canton; daughter, JoAnn Adams; mother, Willie Mae Sparks of Canton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia & Ruel Davis of Canton and Helen & Raymond Smith of Woodstock; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sparks of Cumming; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Sparks will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019 in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Ramsey Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

Mr. Bobby Gene Queen, age 70, passed away January 6, 2019, at Hamilton Medical Center. He was a long time member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Hester Queen.
Survivors include his brother and sister in law: C.W. and Ann Queen of Dalton, nieces: Sonja Nicholson of Chatsworth, Cynthia Shular of Cleveland, TN. and Brianna Queen of Dalton, great-nephews: Chase and Colton Parker, Jake and Cooper Shular. Aunt Lizzie Patterson of Chatsworth and a special cousin Sheila Hughes of Dalton.

Mr. W. B. “Beetle” Hayes age 79 of Chatsworth, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2018 at his residence.
W. B. always enjoyed the nurses he worked with at Hamilton Medical Center.
Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his parents, Ellison Hayes and Ester Brindle Hayes; and many siblings.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Susan Hayes of McCayesville, GA; daughters, Brenda Goforth of Chatsworth and Sonya Hayes of Dalton; significant other, Caroleen Hayes of Chatsworth; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Hayes and Lou Hayes both of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Chevy Bradley, Kristina Hayes, Tabitha Campbell and Gary Hayes; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Hayes will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Isaac Johns, Rev. Danny Jenkins and Rev. Donald Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 14th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 15th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Peeples Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Berry; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason & Cathy Hamilton of Chatsworth, Lee & Sonya Hamilton of Chatsworth, and Heath & Michelle Hamilton of Salem, AL; mother, Bernise Hastings of Fort Payne, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Ricky Berry of Florida and Anita Berry of Gadsden, AL; sisters and brother-in-law, Cindy & Danny Minton of Fort Payne, AL and Tammy Reece of Fort Payne, AL; grandchildren, Vince Motley, Alex Summers, Autumn Hamilton, Devin Hamilton, Aryonna Hamilton, Cheyenne Juarez, Sierra Hamilton, Nez Hamilton, Tess Hamilton, Tiffany Berry, Kaylie Berry, and Dalton Motley; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Berry will be cremated, and no public memorial services will be held.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 2:00p.m. from the Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Chuck Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairmount, GA.

Mrs. Caryl Ridley, age 68, of Chatsworth, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, in Hamilton Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Thurman and Thelma Smith and a nephew Chip Fetzer.
Survivors include her loving husband of 32 years; Mont Ridley. children and spouses: Leigh Ann and Gary Tout, Amy Day, Lauren and Zach Elliott, and Justin Ridley. grandchildren; Carson and Cameron Sharp, Valaree, Chase, Hannah, and Ryan Day, Cora and Brooks Elliot,. great-grandchildren: Millie Rose Williams and Michael Paul Canterbury III, one brother: Jeff Smith and two sisters: Kaye Fetzer and Beth Lindner. Several Nieces and nephews also survive.

Kenneth was a member of Faith Worship Center; and enjoyed the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luke Greeson; mother, Eunice McGhee; wife, Geraldine B. Greeson; sisters, Gennive Johnson, Minnie Ruth Cox, and Mozelle Young.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Haley Greeson and Kendall Greeson –all of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Kade, Kale, Kaleb, Kalen and Karli Greeson; nieces; nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Greeson will be held Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Faith Worship Center with Rev. Damon Smith and Rev. Vince Goble officiating. Interment will follow in the Faith Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 167 of Chatsworth.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jesse R. Jones age 86 of Chatsworth, passed away Wednesday, November 28th 2018 at his home.
Jesse was the founder of Jones Funeral Homes of Chatsworth and Tunnel Hill. In 1950 when he received his Georgia Funeral Directors license, he was the youngest person in the state of Georgia to have been licensed.
He was a member of Chatsworth First Baptist Church, The Murray County Gideon Camp, Chatsworth Lodge # 664 and for many years, served as their secretary. He was a member of the Berry Alumni Association Carpet Capital Chapter and the Spring Place Ruritan Club.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served as a Supply Sergeant in Korea for two years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Clemmie Jones; grandson, Zeth Baird, and a brother, James G. Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Allison Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Guy Baird; grandson, Tyler Jones; granddaughter, Sarah and Drew Callaway; great-granddaughter, Greylynn Callaway; step great-granddaughter, McKenlie Callaway; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben and Glenda Jones and Wink and Sally Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ona and Robert Hamilton and Ruth Ellis; sisters-in-law, Trilba Beavers and Beatrice Walls; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jesse Jones will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 1st 2018 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Chatsworth with Rev. George Ross and Rev. Dewey E. Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Holly Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, November 30th 2018.
