Myrtle Sluder, age 69, of Reliance, TN, and formerly of Murray County, GA, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her father, Simon Samuel Sluder; mother, Mary Lou Phillips Sluder; brothers, Thomas “Shorty” Sluder, Clinton Sluder, and William “Bill” Sluder; and sister, Allene Peek; adopted grandchildren, Mandy Evans Beasley, and Lori and Alicia Burger.

Survivors include her companion, Raymond “Bud” Evans of Reliance; brother, Glenn Sluder of Kennesaw, GA; adopted sons and daughters-in-law, Brady & Dodie Evans, and Greg & Jennifer Evans; adopted daughter and son-in-law, Rose & Cleaston Burger; adopted grandchildren, Chandler Burger, Kaitlyn Prince, Bubba Evans, Ralph Evans and Tyler Evans; adopted great-grandchildren, Lily Beasley, Ethan Huskins and Constance Huskins.

No services are planned for Ms. Sluder.

Mr. Homer David Patterson, 73 of Chatsworth, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Pearlie Patterson; brothers, Mack Patterson and William Patterson, sisters, Opal Glover, and Tressie Jo Sluder.

Survivors include his loving wife, G. Faye Patterson of Chatsworth; brother, Daniel Patterson of Dalton; sisters, Mable Ensley of Chatsworth, Alma Holder of Chatsworth, Shirley Teems of Chatsworth; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie and Gerald Burgess of Dalton.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.

Mrs. Tammy Morrison age 54 of Dalton passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, in the Hamilton Medical Center. Preceded in death by her son: Kevin Hayes. Survived by her husband: Ty Morrison of the residence, step-daughter Lyric Morrison, parents: Charles and Wanda Hackney of Dalton, brother and sister in law: Anthony and Kitty Hackney of Killen AL, Carla Macon of Dalton, special friend: Leigh Ellen Griggs of Dalton several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents George Vernon and Margie Coker and a granddaughter Katelynn Bass.

Mrs. Tommie Sue Davis, age 82, of Chatsworth passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at her home.

Tommie Sue was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wren Chastain; mother, Ressie Chastain; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Harley Rymer, JoAnn and Walter Oliver, and Anna Lee Chastain; brothers, James, Charles, and Harold Chastain; and great-grandson, Lane McCray Davis.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Hubert Eugene Davis; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Debra Davis and Richard and Louise Davis – all of Chatsworth; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and David Suddeth of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Ann Chastain of Dalton; grandchildren, Zachary and Caela Davis, Dylan, Chad, Josh, and Lauren Davis, and Emily Grider; great-grandchild, Cord McCray Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Jackson and Rev. Bobby Green officiating. Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

Edith Parson: Obituary

Mrs. Edith Parson, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 83 on January 26, 2020.

Edith was born on June 6, 1936 to Clint and Dorothy Patterson. On September 5, 1953, she married Edd Parson, Jr. They raised a daughter and three sons.

Edith loved the Lord and her family and enjoyed music and singing and was an avid gardener. She cherished time sitting on the porch in the evenings with her family and friends, talking over the day and about their lives. Edith was a faithful member of Fairy Valley Baptist Church in Crandall, GA.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edd Parson, Jr.; father, Clint Patterson; mother, Dorothy Patterson; and sister, Bingle Mantooth.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Roger DeVaughn; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddy and Patty Parson, Ricky and Debby Parson, and Ben and Sharon Parson, all of Crandall; brothers and sisters, Thomas Patterson, Charles and Ruby Patterson, Grady and Rhonda Patterson, Wanda and Bill Webb, Bonnie and Ray Cavett, and Arlene Stevenson; grandchildren, Kelly and Johnny Ingram, Blake and Ashley Parson, Maria and Carl Taylor, Jamie Parson, Virginia and Alan Atkins, Hannah Parson, and Benjamin Parson; great-grandchildren, Lane Holsomback, Ella Keith, Asa Taylor, Alexis Parson, Landon Atkins, and Ava Atkins; sister-in-law, Jeraldine Setter; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Opal Scott, Linda Parson, Brenda Carver, Rebecca Burris, Shelby Everette and Haley Hobbs.

Dallas W. Buckner, age 81 of Tunnel Hill, passed away Monday, January 27th 2020 at Hamilton Medical Center.

Mr. Buckner was a faithful member and a deacon of Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church. He loved his family and he loved his flower garden. He worked in the textile industry for over fifty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Grace Buckner.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Buckner; brother, Wayne Buckner; sisters, Betty Jenkins, Dorothy Jenkins, Marie Smith, and Donna Neal; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dallas Buckner will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 30th 2020 from the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Tunnel Hill with Rev.Tyson Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Griffin Memorial Cemetery.

She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Morgan of Chatsworth; brothers and sister-in-law, Jerry Cox and Kenny and Dottie Cox – all of LaFollette, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Carl Douglas of Ringgold and Patsy and Roy Marlowe of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Erica Williams of Dalton and Chad Duckett of Chatsworth; great-grandchildren, Logan Williams and Lena Ann Lamons; former husbands, Jesse Morgan, Jr. of Chatsworth and Ricky Duckett of Cisco; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeffers will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020, in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Cox and Rev. Randy McClure officiating. Mrs. Jeffers will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm on Sunday at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Huntsville, TN.

Jerry was an amazing son, brother, and friend. He never met a stranger, he was full of life and anyone who met him will tell you he had an infectious sense of humor.  He had a heart of gold that was more tender than most realized and a love for animals especially his dog Baby.  Baby was his sidekick wherever Jerry went. Jerry loved his family deeply especially his mom and dad. They were always his rock in troubled times and good times. He struggled with a fear of disappointing others and felt he never measured up. If only he realized how deeply he was loved, how deeply he was cared for and truly amazing he was. He touched more people in his short life than most of us do in a lifetime. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 pm from the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Mitchell Gaston officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1 pm till the funeral hour.

Sheena was a loving mother and a cherished daughter.

Ray enjoyed working, watching sports, listening to gospel music, and reading his Bible.

Ray received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1971.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Opal Gribble; brothers, Kenneth Gribble, Donald Gribble, Harold Gribble, Paul Gribble, and Cecil Gribble; sister, Beatrice Davis; his first wife, Linda Witherow Gribble.
