Ruth Gibson

Ruth Marie Jeske Gibson, age 87, of Chatsworth passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Billie Gibson; father, Ewald Theodore Jeske; mother, Bertha Marie Polster Jeske; brothers, Raymond and Roy Jeske; sisters, Nola Lane and Ida Wood; grandson, Cliff Mitchell; and great-granddaughter, Cassandra Lewis.

Ruth is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ray Gibson of Chatsworth, John and Sarah Gibson of Chatsworth, David and Katherine Gibson of Benton, AR, Sam and Bev Gibson of Chatsworth, and Daniel and Redia Gibson of Chatsworth; daughters and son-in-law, Cheryl Lewis of Dalton and Patricia and Jerry Mitchell of Chatsworth; sister, Gladys Smith of Athens, GA; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gibson will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 7, 2019 in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Ray and Mr. Dan Sluder officiating. Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm.

Rosea Beatrice Morrison

June 03, 1936 – February 27, 2019

Rosea Beatrice Morrison, age 82, of Chatsworth passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at her residence.

She was a member of Cedar Valley Cathedral of Praise and enjoyed studying and recording her ancestry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Janie Franklin; brothers, Buster, Witty, Lonnie, and Little Virgil Franklin; and granddaughter, Samantha Silvers.

Survivors include her husband, James Morrison; daughters and son-in-law, Gayle Dougherty of Chatsworth and Pam & George Glenn of Chatsworth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gracie & Claudius Morrison of Rocky Face, Mollie & Lynn Carpenter of Rocky Face, and Becky & Terry Milsap of LaFayette; grandchildren, Chrissie & Cotton Smith, Matthew & Kristen Silvers, Brandon Glenn, and Monica & Clayton Meadows; great-grandchildren, Haley and Javan Vineyard, Canyon and Brianna Vineyard, Blake Silvers, Taylor and Jade Planza, and Xander, Cason, and Lily Meadows; and special great-grandchildren, Elsi Whitfield, Kennedy Rose Vineyard, and Savannah and Jessie Newton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Morrison will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Stout officiating. Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.

Margaret Ann Marney

JUNE 8, 1943 ~ FEBRUARY 11, 2019

Margaret Ann Marney, age 75, of Dalton, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a long and hard fought battle with multiple health issues. She was 75.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Hazel Marney, Sister, Marlene Lumpkin, and her beautiful Grandson, Dustin James Jennings.

Born in June of 1943 in Dalton GA, she grew up on the South end of Whitfield County enjoying riding her Tennessee Walking Horses and driving fast cars. She was a Graduate of Valley Point High School Class of 1961. She always had a story to tell, often creating tears of laughter from the tales of her mischievous adventures.

Margaret was first and foremost a dedicated mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She embraced every possible moment spent with her family and took great pride in their successes and accomplishments. She will be survived by and missed greatly by those she has left behind, daughter Angie Jennings and Kimberly Biddy of Ringgold, daughter Alethea Temple and Jody Temple of Rome, son Bill Jennings of Chatsworth, Grandchildren Josh Pickens, Hunter Jennings, MacKenzie Temple, and Cooper Jennings and her Great Grandson Gavin Pickens. She also leaves behind her cherished fiance’ Marlin Cochran and her “Other daughter” Dana Burchfield.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 5-9pm at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home 2362 Highway 76 Chatsworth GA. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Lester A. Roper

NOVEMBER 9, 1962 ~ JANUARY 28, 2019

Mr. Lester A. Roper, age 56, of Eton, passed away Monday, January 28, 2018 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Kathern Roper and a special friend Tony Hawkins.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters in law: Allen and Laura Roper, Jerry and Gladys Roper all of Dawnville, sisters and brother in law: Linda and Allan Cantrell of Dawnville, Kay Dodson of Eton,  special friend: Wanda Roberts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 31, at 2 pm  in  the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Cochran and Rev. Gary Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the Dawnville United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 5 till 9 pm. Pallbearers will be Allen Fugate, Ivan Donahue, Brandon Roper, James Longwell and Michael Plott.

Charles “Charlie” D. Sparks

July 31, 1942 – January 25, 2019

Charles “Charlie” D. Sparks, age 76, of Chatsworth passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at his residence.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Ball Ground, GA and the president and founder of S&W Communications, Inc.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Sparks; son, Bobby Sparks; brother, Jerry Sparks; and sister, Linda Jane Sparks.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda LaVerne Petty Sparks of Chatsworth; sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan & Laura Sparks of Decatur and Allen & Lisa Sparks of Canton; daughter, JoAnn Adams; mother, Willie Mae Sparks of Canton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia & Ruel Davis of Canton and Helen & Raymond Smith of Woodstock; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sparks of Cumming; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Sparks will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019 in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Ramsey Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
