Mr. William Albert “Billy” Hansird, age 68, of Chatsworth passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Mr. Hansird was employed by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office and the Chatsworth Police Department for 18 years. He served as Murray County Sheriff for two consecutive terms from 1981-1989.

Bill loved horses, enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a member of the Cisco Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Albert “Dub” and Sally Hansird, his grandparents, and the mother of his children, Dinah Ray Godfrey Hansird.
Survivors include, wife, Brenda Joyce Summey Hansird of the home; children and spouses, Cory and Ashli Hansird of Chatsworth, Heath Hansird of Chatsworth, Toni and Jason Cox of Chatsworth, Patrick and Marcy Lowery of Dalton, Chris and Leslie Lowery of Chatsworth; brother, Jeff Hansird of Crandall; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Eddie Pritchett of Chatsworth, Nadine and Edward Flood of Crandall, Joyce and Mike Blakeley of Frankston, TX; grandchildren, Landon Hansird, Lila Ray Hansird, Carson Cox, Mia Lowery, Karlee Cox, Ashley and Justin Lowery, Chace, Larkyn and Addy Lowery; great-grandchild, Michael Burch; special friends, Novis Davis, Richard Crowley and Doug Baggett; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Hansird will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran and Rev. Matthew Harris officiating. Music will be by special friends, The Jordan Family Band. Interment will follow in the Fairy Valley Cemetery. Graveside rites will be provided by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
