He is preceded in death by a son: Michael Dudley, grandparents: Erwin Epperson, J. B. Thompson, Clay Newton, and Louise Smith.
He is survived by his wife: Angela Newton of Chatsworth, daughters and sons in law: Stephanie & Daniel Miller of Chattanooga, Amber and Jamie Brown of Dalton, Angel and Tim Mitchell of Chatsworth, brother and sister in law; Henry and Brandy Newton of Chatsworth, mother: Mary Newton of Chatsworth, father: Grady Newton of Chatsworth, granny: Tynene Epperson of Dalton, grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Alexias, Breanna and Zach Miller of Chattanooga, Austin and Brantley Brown of Dalton, Cayden and Xander Dudley of Chatsworth, Nevaeh and Mahayla Mitchell of Chatsworth.
Funeral service for Mr. Newton will be held on Tuesday, March 6, at 3 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. David Jones officiating. Interment will be in Colonial Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Henry Newton, Scott Newton, Lane Newton, Jamie Brown, Daniel Miller and Kenny Forrester.

Mrs. Sandra M. Souther, 80 of Butts County, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Brightmoor Nursing Center surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren.
Sandra was a hairdresser; she retired from the City of Dalton School System.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Souther; brother, David Hartness.
Survivors include her son, Michael Eberhardt of Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Walt Collins of Griffin, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, Jerry and Janice Hartness of Hampton, Billy Hartness of Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Doug Sheets of Stockbridge, GA; grandchildren, Melissa, Alice, Christopher; great grandchildren, Jacob, Garrett, and Ava; extended family also survives.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Souther will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Nora Payne, age 69 of Chatsworth, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at the residence of her son in Dalton.
She was a wonderful wife of Steve Payne for 45 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was always kind to others. She is preceded in death by her husband: Steve Payne.
Mrs. Payne is survived by her children and spouses: Steve, Jr. and Kym Payne of Ringgold, Keith and Sheri Payne of Dalton, Angela and Rasmus Dyhr of Lenoir City, TN, grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Waters, parents: George and Bessie Waters.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law: Maxine and Tony Everett of Chatsworth, son: James Waters of Ranger, grandchild: Wayne Johnson of Chatsworth, 2 great-grandchildren: Matthew and Kailyn Johnson, sisters: Lorene Pless of Chatsworth, and Yvonne Rymer of Dalton, brother: Tommy Waters of Dalton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Lorene (Captain) Stevenson, age 85, of Chatsworth, Georgia passed away on July 10, 2018. Lorene was born on December 28, 1932, at her family’s home on the Jacks River in Fannin County, Georgia. She was baptized and became a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church when she was thirteen years old. She worked in the carpet industry as a binder operator. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She was known for the Red Velvet cakes she baked and gave to her co-workers during the Christmas season. She enjoyed growing a variety of plants and flowers. She had a real talent for producing beautiful roses. She loved collecting antiques especially Depression Glass.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Della Patterson; her husband of 62 years, Hubert G. Stevenson; sisters, Ellene Keener, Rosalee Thigpen, Kathryn Stevenson, and Roszene Mathis; brothers, Willard, Lewis Junior, and Eugene Patterson.
Survivors include her son, Johnny Stevenson, daughter, Ann Stevenson, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Rick Bishop, all of Chatsworth, daughter and son-in-law, Tami Stevenson and John Abruscati, of Athens, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law Joann and Ken Nash, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, brother and sister-in-law Paul and Hazel Patterson of Calhoun, Georgia; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Charles Kenneth Ross, age 84, of Chatsworth passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Murray Medical Center.
Kenneth received numerous accolades for his superior career as a basketball coach, which included 3 State Championships. He was inducted into the Halls of Fame of the Georgia High School Association, Murray County High School, and Lincoln Memorial University; was presented with several “Coach of the Year” awards; and had the Murray County High School gymnasium named in his honor.
He was preceded in death by his son, Allan Ross; parents, Carl and Rosa Ross; and brother, C.A. Ross.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Ross; daughters and son-in-law, Allison (Ross) and Bruce Wilson of Gainesville, GA and April Ross of Dalton; daughter-in-law and her spouse, Annette (Ross) and Jeff Smith of Blairsville; brother and sisters-in-law, Frank and Brenda Ross of Chatsworth and Charlotte Ross of Boone, NC; grandchildren, Michael Ross, Andy and Chelsea (Wilson) Sullivan, and Coleman Wilson; special family, Ron and Joyce Burnette and Jason and Laura Burnette; and several dear extended family members.
