Mrs. Lillian Irene M. Adams age 96 of Dalton, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her residence.

Lillian was a veteran, having served in the US Navy during WWII.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Rittenhouse & Laura Lee Emma Young Rittenhouse; her husband, Frank Callaway Adams; and several brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Survivors include daughter, Adrienne L. Mosier of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Foster (Chunky) Adams & Jane Williams of Dalton; special family friend, Joyce L. Miller of Dalton; nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Adams wishes were to be cremated.

No services will be held.

Carroll; and special extended family, Sybil Jones, Bob Jones, Jakie Jones, Barbara Flatters, Sue Jones, Danny & Donna Carroll, Phylica, Mark and Rachel Frankenberger, Vondell & Henry Morgan, Nina Ruth McMelley, Betty Dalton, Doris Rogers and Tony Carroll.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Byers officiating and special remarks by Rachel Frankenberger. Interment will follow at Fairy Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday for one hour prior to the funeral services.

He was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Dover was preceded in death by his father, Burrell Dover; mother, Louise Dover; and brothers, Dennis and Clay Dover.

Survivors include his wife, Kellie Dover; son, Wesley Dover of Chatsworth; daughter, Devin Evans (Dustin) of Dallas, GA; brother, Crafton Dover (Charlotte) of Chatsworth; sisters, Nancy Stancill (Glen) of Dalton, Wanda Dover of Dalton, Ann Williams of Dalton, and Brenda Self (Terry) of Dawnville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brad & Kathy Thornton; grandchildren, Braxlyn Dover and Carter Evans; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Dover will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Holly Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Cochran, Rev. Crafton Dover, and Rev. Walter Hare officiating. He will be laid to rest at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Dalton.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:30 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm.

Mrs. Hazel Stafford Bugg, age 88, of Rocky Face, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018, at  Hamilton Medical Center.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husbands:  Ford Stafford and Granvel Bugg, parents: Carl Burger and Mattie Burger.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law: Mike & Brenda Stafford of Dalton, grand-daughters Julie Stafford and Amberly Stafford of Dalton, sister and brother in law: Joann & Rufus Guthrie of Dalton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Fred Edward Whaley, age 80, of Chatsworth passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Erlanger Hospital.

Fred enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus and was a loving grand-pa to his granddaughter, Aspen. He was also a wonderful father and a man who was well-respected by his community.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dixie R. Whaley; father, Kenneth Whaley; sisters, Rosetta W. Lusk and Thelma W. Barmore; and brothers, W. A. Whaley, Charles L. Whaley, Melvin R. Whaley, Troy L. Whaley, and Donnie L. Whaley.

Survivors include his wife, Italia C. Whaley; sons, Michael E. Whaley of Chatsworth and Paul E. Whaley of Chatsworth; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Nathan Vineyard of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Kathy Whaley of Dalton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Rick Woody of Old Fort, TN and Judy and Ronnie Gentry of Ocoee, TN; granddaughter, Aspen Ellie Vineyard; nieces; and nephews.

Diane Hooker Foust Cruze, age 58, entered into heavenly rest Wednesday, November 28, 2018 after a brief battle against cancer. She was born December 29, 1959 in Dalton, Georgia and graduated from Lake City High School in 1977. Diane was truly a one-of-a- kind to all who knew and loved her. She met hardship, which was no stranger to her life, by accepting and rolling with the flow. She had a big heart and loved doing, especially cooking, for others. She and John actively supported veterans, and Diane was a member of the Veterans Women’s Auxiliary. She loved reading, puzzle books, her mama’s sweet tea, bluegrass music and a good cup of coffee. She enjoyed giving nightly belly rubs to her best feline friend, Calico. Diane was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church, where her father formerly pastored. She is preceded in death by former spouses Terry Foust and John Cruze, and feline friend Miss Mama.

Diane is survived by her parents, Dr. T.D. Hooker and Pat Hooker, daughter, Brigette Hatmaker, sister and brother-in-law, Jeanine and Rodney Reeder, sister, Carol Gillespie, grandsons, Johnathon Pangle and Jacob Hatmaker, nieces and nephews, Miranda and Michael Finch, Evan Gillespie and Lauren Gillespie, cousins, David and Pam Witherow, Jimmy and Christy Witherow. The family would like to especially thank the kind staff at Amedisys Hospice, who provided most excellent care.

Mrs. Esther Elizabeth Beavers  Knight  age 77 of Chatsworth passed away Thursday morning November 22, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Knight.

She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, , Ronnie Beavers, Greg and Sheila Beavers, and Rick and Regina Knight all of Chatsworth. Grandchildren, Candy Davis, Brandy Stone, Lindsey Allen, Seth Beavers, Caleb Beavers, Michael Knight, Samantha Knight, and Kansas Nelson. Several Great-grandchildren nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Sims is survived by children:  Elaine D. Wilson of Dalton, Joseph and Kay Manley Sims of Chatsworth, daughter in law: Kim Wilson of Dalton, grandchildren: Luke Sims of Chatsworth: ,January Jones of Calhoun, and Terry Sims of Dalton,  step-children: Jackie Sims and Scott Sims both of Dalton, brother: Gary McGill of Dalton, sister and brother in law: Debbie and Dickie Barnes of Chatsworth, sisters in law: June Barber of Eatonton  and  Iris Mathis of Dalton.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service for Mrs. Sims will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 2 pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman with Rev. Ron Stephens officiating. Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 15  from 6 until 9 PM at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home.

Ima Jean was a member of Center Valley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and teaching them to cook, fishing, gardening, and laughing.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tasker Carroll, mother, Aline Carroll, brothers, Charles Carroll, Fred Carroll, Stan Carroll; sister, Maxine Carroll.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Ronnie Leonard of Chatsworth; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Isis Leonard of Jacksonville, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Chris Harrison of Chatsworth; brother, David Carroll of Chatsworth; sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Charles Swilling of Varnell, Zela “Cricket” and Jeff Cates of Columbiana, AL, Louise Johnson of Cohutta; grandchildren, Mia Leonard, Aaron Leonard, Gustavo Leonard; and several extended family members.

Mrs. Georgia Ozelle Crawford, 93 of Chatsworth, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Erlanger Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Madgie Sales. Ozelle was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a caring friend to all who knew her. She represented a life well-lived. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J.L. Crawford; brother, Don Sales; sisters, Christine Brooks Satterfield, Clarice Edmonson, and Willamae Witherow; sister-in-law and husband, Gaynell and Joe Gang.
