North Murray Falls To Sonoraville

Team FYN Sports

The Sonoraville Phoenix came to the home of the Mountaineers on Tuesday to play an important region game. North came in at 12-11 overall and 7-8 in the region with their opponent sitting at 18-2 overall and 13-1 in the region.  Knowing the challenge ahead of them, the Mountaineers laced up the cleats and faced that challenge full force.

The Phoenix jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning on 4 hits including 3 singles and 1 double.  With the Sonoraville defense holding the Mountaineers offense to no runs they never looked back.  To be sure the lead would hold, the visiting team would add 1 more in the fourth making the score 5-0.  The Mountaineers offense was shut down and held to just 4 hits in the game.  Samantha Black(2 for 3), Alivia Rymer(1 for 4), and McKinley Fields(1 for 2) all reached base by hit.

Taking the circle for North Murray were Jodi Evans and Savannah Smith.  Evans took the loss on 43 pitches(32 being strikes) allowing 5 runs(3 earned) on 8 hits. Evans had 1 strikeout in the loss.  Smith in relief threw 33 pitches allowing 1 hit and no runs with 3 strikeouts.

The North Murray Mountaineers will play at Ringgold on Thursday.  Start time is scheduled for 5:30 PM
