Mr. Jerry Erwin Davis, age 71 passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at his residence in Murray County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Davis, and his sister, Billie Joan Davis.

Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy Tanksley Davis; sons and daughter-in-law, Jared Davis, Terrell and Rhonda Davis; grandchildren Patrick Davis, John Davis, and McEver Davis; sister-in-law, Charlotte Ross; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Beverly Tanksley, Patrick and Janice Tanksley.

Jerry was born in Dalton, GA and graduated from Dalton High School. He went on to graduate from Piedmont College, University of West Georgia, and Georgia State University with degrees in Education and Administration. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, being stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Jerry worked for over 34 years in the field of education. Jerry retired from the Whitfield County School System, where he served in several administrative positions including his last two assignments as Principal of Antioch and Dawnville Elementary Schools.

An avid baseball fan, Jerry enjoyed attending games with his grandchildren and friends. He was also an adventurous traveler visiting Europe, Central America, South America, Africa, Asia and most of North America. Also, Jerry served on the committee that established the Veterans’ Memorial in Murray County, GA.

Cremation services were provided by Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory. No memorial services planned.
