Mr. Bruce C. Dyer, age 80 of Dalton passed away September 15, 2015 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1935 in Blairsville, GA, and moved as a boy with his family to Dalton. He graduated from Valley Point High School where he played point guard on the state runner-up basketball team and was editor of the school newspaper.  While studying textile engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Bruce co-oped at Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga where he continued to work after college. Following Combustion he worked at Brown Printing for several years before deciding to enter the carpet industry, where he went on and founded several successful businesses. In 1989, Bruce started Graphic Tufting Center, where he worked with his sons until the day before his death.  In addition to his dedication to his work, Bruce loved to attend his grandchildren’s activities, cheer on his Yellow Jackets, support the Elks Lodge and discuss politics at length. He was an avid boater and loved the Tennessee River. Bruce also loved to dance, and would do so wherever, whenever.

He was preceded in death by his mother Eddis Massengill, step-father Luther (Pete) Massengill and father Cranford A. Laws.

He is survived by his children, Sherry Dyer, Mark and Cecelia Dyer, Jeff Dyer, and Michael and Chellie Amagliani. Grandchildren, Jeremy and Georgia Hickman, Sam Dyer, Abby Dyer, Emma Dyer, Hudson Dyer, Beckham Dyer and Cullen Amagliani: great grandchildren Tyler Dills and Chandler Hickman. Two brothers and sister in law, Bob and Ruby Dyer and Arlon Dyer.

The family will recieve friends at the funeral home 4 til 7 pm Friday, September 18, 2015.  A private ceremony will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dogwood Valley Baptist Church, 1256 Dogwood Valley Rd. Tunnel Hill, GA 30755, or Dalton Elks Lodge,1212 Elkwood Dr. Dalton, GA 30720.
