CALHOUN-The Gordon County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Momon Construction as Construction Manager for the judicial and courthouse renovations.
“This entails a commitment to the construction manager to deliver the project at a guaranteed maximum price,” said Jim Ledbetter, county administrator.
He explained that the contract includes two parts, a pre-construction and construction. The pre-construction portion includes evaluating documents and projects and estimating the costs. It also includes preparing the bid details and reviewing the bids. This portion pays the construction manager a flat fee of $28,000.
The second part of the contract entails the construction phase and would be the contract manager’s responsibility to complete it at or below the price and their fee would be 3.5-percent.
“We estimate this will cost $10-million,” said Ledbetter. “So they would receive $350,000 plus the flat fee of $28,000.”
The project includes renovation of the courthouse annex and an addition for extra court rooms.
