Mrs. Lela Mae Harrison Burgess, age 77, of Chatsworth passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd, Sr. & Stacey Austin Harrison; brother, Floyd Harrison, Jr.; sisters, Marjorie Ray and Lucille Junkins; and daughter, Maria Burgess.
Survivors include her husband, Grady Burgess; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda & Scott Smith of Chatsworth; brother and sister-in-law, Joe & Kathy Harrison of Chatsworth; sisters, Martha Davis of Chatsworth and Ethel Wallin of Dalton; grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Smith and Shana and Laurie Cone; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Burgess will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Holly Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Cochran and Rev. Walter Hare officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 until 9:00 pm.
