New Phone Scam Circulating Our Area

PRESS RELEASE-

Good afternoon Murray County! We currently have a new phone scam circulating our area. The phone numbers being cloned and used are 706-252-9169 and 706-578-5111. The scammers are pretending to be detectives from our Sheriff’s Office and asking for payment to purge would be victims from arrest warrants. Picture text messages are also being sent to would be victims to create fear and enhance the scam.

We at the Murray County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone that no law enforcement agency would ever call or text you and demand payment to lift an arrest warrant or subpoena. If you receive a phone call, voicemail or a text message like the ones pictured below. Call your local law enforcement agency for assistance.
