John Whittle Holcomb: Obituary

Mr. John Whittle Holcomb, age 88, of Chatsworth, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, in Hamilton Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Holcomb was a loving husband, a great father and a wonderful PawPaw.  He was a member of Spring Place Baptist Church and served in the United States Army.  He loved gardening and fishing.

He is preceded in death by parents, Arthur “Obb” and Laura Mae Holcomb: brothers and sisters, Bill Holcomb, Robert “Moose” Holcomb, Jack Holcomb, Catherine Holcomb, and Thelma “Tootsie” Rodriguez.

Mr. Holcomb is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carrie Holcomb of Chatsworth: daughter, Susan Parker of Chatsworth: sister and brothers, Wanda Smith, Roy Holcomb, and Jimmy Holcomb all of Chatsworth: grandchildren and spouse, Mitchell Parker,  Zach and Alisa Parker all of Dalton: great-grandchildren, Trystan, Ashton, and Zoe Parker all of Dalton:  nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.  Pallbearers will be  Mitchell Parker, Zach Parker, Jimmy Parker, Tim Campbell, Ken Campbell and Dustin Reed.

Funeral Service for Mr. Holcomb will be Sunday, February 23, 2020,at 4 PM, in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. David Hammonds, Rev. Bret Yaeger, and Rev. Walter Hare officiating. Interment will be in Sumach  Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with full Military Honors by the American Legion Post # 167. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 22, from 6 until 9 PM at the funeral home.
