Eton City council member faces felony charges after being arrested. Steve Shaw who has been on the Eton City Council since 2002 was arrested by Murray County Sheriff’s Office after investigators arranged a undercover buy.
Detective Shannon Ramsey with the Murray County Sheriff Office arrested and charged 56 year old Stephen Shaw, of Old Federal Road with a felony charge of criminal attempt to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act and use of a communication facility in commission of a felony involving controlled substances which is also a felony.
Detective Shannon Ramsey said “We had received information that Steve Shaw was attempting to purchase prescription medication which was not prescribed to him” Prior to the arrest, during our investigation, “we recorded conversations about the purchase of Hydrocodone prescription pills which included price and meeting location. Once everything was set up with the undercover officer, We was able to go to that location and arrest him.”
Arrested with Stephen Shaw was Brenda Flood, 24 years old of Red Cut Road. She was charged with two counts of parties to a crime.
Shaw was released Sunday from Murray County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
