Maggie L. Dooley, beloved sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Monday Feb. 27, 2017, at Morningside of Dalton.
She was 99. Born on Aug. 7, 1917, in Whitfield County during World War I, she was the middle of nine children. Maggie was a devoted Christian who was immensely proud of her family.
She enjoyed quilting, tending her garden, teaching Sunday School, cooking and visiting with friends and family. Her infectious giggle was her trademark.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Cordie Brock; her husband, Keith Dooley; and seven brothers and sisters: Elsie, Ona, Mildred, Clarence, D.C., Cecil and Carl.
She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Cantrell of Chatsworth; her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Wendell Whaley of Dalton; grandson Kevin Whaley and wife Donna of Kennesaw; granddaughter Kara Oddy and husband Dan of Mooresville, N.C.; great-grandchildren Parker Whaley, Grace Oddy and Matthew Oddy; sister-in-law Doris Dooley of Chatsworth; special niece/caregiver Pat Brock of Dalton; many other nieces and nephews; and special friend Annita Sampson of Chatsworth.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dooley will be held Thursday March 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Beason and Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
