Mr. Elbert “Butch” Evans: Obituary

Elbert “Butch” Evans, 79, of Dalton passed away February 20, 2017 at his residence.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Carl and Dora Hillis Evans, Brother, William Carl Jr., Sisters, Viola Evans, and Eleanor Blake.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Walker Evans; Daughter, Kim Yvonne Evans of Niles, Michigan, Son, Steven Ray (Monique) Evans of Belgium.  Step-Children, Sheri Williams of Dunwoody, GA and Kelly (Talli) Williams of Dalton, GA.  Grandchildren, Rick (Nicole) Evans of South Bend, Indiana, Marcie (Chris) Weyler of Dayton, TN; Alex Evans, Sharon (Kevin) Nuhs of Belgium, and Justin Hooks of Dunwoody, GA.  Great Grandchildren, Dylan, Nick, Aleah of South Bend, Indiana; Calliegh of Dayton, TN, Chase and Zane of Belgium and Sister, Charlene Vandagriff of Dalton and numerous Nieces and Nephews, and we can’t forget his favorite four legged buddy, Peaches.

Butch was a member of B.P.O.E. Dalton Lodge 1267, serving in numerous positions at the Local, State, and National levels.  He was also a member of The American Legion Dalton Post 112.

Butch loved his country and he served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Services to celebrate the life of Elbert “Butch” Evans are to be held Friday, Feb 24th at 1pm in the Chapel at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home.  Mr. Lloyd  Bryson will deliver the eulogy with members of the Dalton Elks Lodge to perform the Elks Ritual for Funeral Services.

Interment will be at the Whitfield Memorial Gardens.  Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, as well as Dalton Elks to provide the final ceremony.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, Feb 23rd from 5-8 pm.
