Past Due Power Bill Scam

The Chatsworth Police Department has received calls from several local businesses in reference to a scam. The offenders identify themselves as an employee with GA Power, claim that the power bill is past due and payment must be made immediately. In the most recent incidents the person called from 866-978-7560. The automated answering service sounded legitimate. However, upon asking a few questions it was obvious that this was a scam.

The Chatsworth Police Department recommends that you never give anyone your bank account information over the phone and if you receive a call from this number contact your local law enforcement agency.
