Mrs. Rita Sharon Griffin: Obituary

Mrs. Rita Sharon Griffin( better known as “Big Mama”), age 68 of Chatsworth, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at the Hamilton Medical Center.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson “Jack” and Charlotte Pitts.  She was also preceded in death by her sister Shirley Pitts Ray, brother Reverend Jackie O. Pitts, and her in-laws Thomas Lee and Edna Lucille Griffin.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Gary Griffin of the residence; sisters and brother-in-law, Brenda (Everett) Miley of Chillicothe, Ohio, Evangelist Sheila (Sonny) Brooks of Dalton and Debbie Pitts Goble of Tunnel Hill; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and numerous friends.  Rita did not have any children of her own, but she was a mother to all of the many children that she helped care for over the years.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 22, 2016 at 2 pm at the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Wendall Stover officiating.  Interment will follow at United Memorial Gardens in Dalton.  The family will receive friends Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 5 until 9 pm at Shawn Chapman Funeral Home.
