Mrs. Jean Evelyn Hammontree, age 89, of Dalton went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 29, 2016.

She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hammontree was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Joseph Hoyt Hammontree; her parents, William Lamar Jones and Bonnie Long Jones; brothers, William “Buck” Jones and Calvin Jones; sisters, Kathleen “Ty” Keith and Mary McCune.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and O’Keema Hammontree of Chatsworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Johnson Todd of Chatsworth, Penny and Marc Carpenter of Crandall; brothers and sister-in-law, Arvel Jones, Clifford and Louise Jones – all of Chatsworth; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Ridley, Barbara and Billy Parker – all of Chatsworth; grandchildren, David and Amanda Todd, Edward and Angie Todd, Emily Teasley; great-grandchildren, Bre, Eli and Luke Todd, Jenny and Jason Todd, Staci and Joe Langham, Brayden and Christy Teasley; great-great grandchildren, Ama and Lelan Langham; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hammontree will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Corbin, Rev. Steve Corbin and Rev. Billy Parker officiating. Interment will be held in the Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Grace Baptist Church, Attn: Grady Patterson, 345 Rob Brooks Road, Crandall, GA 30711.

Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth is in charge of the arrangements.
